Ooh La Loire on the move. A wonderful couple of days away, and all the gods were with us no travel restrictions, and the weather was well, almost good.
We arrived in Pornic at 2 o’clock just time to take in the sea view from our room.
(1) drop off case, (2) a quick rinse, (3) throw off coats and be out and about in (4) search of the location of the restaurant and explore the town.
All was going well, we realised the restraunt was only 1 minute from the hotel. Tick number 4.
It was a while later when it we appreciated the rashness of number 3. As luck would have it we were very close to a bar, when the heavens opened, which by chance was next door to the tourist information Did anyone know tourist information offices sell umbrellas!
So armed with “information” we returned to the hotel to relax…..via the wine shop, it was our Anniversary after all.
The restaurant was a revelation
The food was brilliant. We both had oysters, The main course was steak.
They were both delicious, and served so elegantly. Befitting such a wonderful atmosphere.
Wednesday September 30
Armed with maps and leaflets we set off to complete two circular routes, one round the town, chateaux and church, the other a walk along the harbour and beach. Just over 5 miles in all, and this time the rain god kept away.
It is a very pretty town with little thourgh fares and Nooks and crannies. The dominant feature is of course the harbour, chocolate box material.
Lunch was moules Avec Bleu d’Auvergne
…and all to soon it was time to leave. A veritable oasis in this weird year.
I really enjoy reading about your adventures. You two do enjoy life.
