Weekends are special, even when you are retired!
Moving to France was, and still is, an adventure in many ways.
When we arrived here all those years ago each day included croissants etc for breakfast, charcuterie for lunch, then delicious meals each evening.
Of course it’s not possible to maintain this regime, well it is 😀 but unwise!
So now we try to keep the weekends special and weekdays simple.
Usually Thursday we sit down and discuss what the weekend menus will be. These vary from French to Italian to far eastern, middle eastern etc
Sometimes the menu is involved or simple.
A simple meal of steak frites sometimes hits the spot, especially if the steak is good.
We have enjoyed many steaks but in France it was at one time difficult to find a good aged one.
This is changing. One supermarket close to here ages steak in a dedicated area and sends you a SMS when it is ready. We have tried a couple and they are pretty good.
Recently friends of ours told us about the entrecôte from a local Proxy supermarket. Telling us how good it is.
We had heard good reports from the Boucherie there so we are trying it tonight!
It looks excellent, a good marbling of fat, the fat on the outside looks creamy – verdict below (after dinner lol).
Excellent, cooked to perfection (of course!), served with a few home cooked chips and a small amount of blue cheese sauce (also home made).
